ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,269,791, issued on April 8, was assigned to BASF SE (Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany).

"Process for the production of anhydrous methanesulfonic acid from methane and SO3" was invented by Frieder Borgmeier (Ludwigshafen, Germany), Frank Piepenbreier (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and Andreas Kempter (Ludwigshafen, Germany).
