ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,534,561, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to BASF COATINGS GMBH (Muenster, Germany).

"Controlled radical polymerization" was invented by Shampa R. Samanta (Southfield, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein is a process for preparing a polymer by radical polymerization. More specifically, the process disclosed herein is for preparing a polymer by controlled radical polymerization."
