ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,290,426, issued on May 6, was assigned to AVINTIV SPECIALTY MATERIALS INC. (Charlotte, N.C.).

"Treated nonwoven having an affinity for an active ingredient" was invented by Sven Krister Erlandsson (Advance, N.C.), Pierre Grondin (Mooresville, N.C.) and Ralph A. Moody III (Mooresville, N.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A nonwoven having a high affinity for an active ingredient is proved, the nonwoven having at least one high surface area fiber in addition to the active ingredient."

The patent was filed on June 14, 2021, under Application No. 17/346,360.
