ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,257,003, issued on March 25, was assigned to Avinger Inc. (Redwood City, Calif.).
"Occlusion-crossing devices, atherectomy devices, and imaging" was invented by Maegan K. Spencer (Emerald Hills, Calif.), John B. Simpson (Woodside, Calif.) and Stephen C. Davies (El Dorado Hills, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are methods for producing and identifying characteristic ("crescent shaped") regions indicative of an atherectomy plaque within a vessel, and systems and devices adapted to take advantage of this characteristic region."
The patent was filed on Oct. 4, 2021, under Application No. 17/449,895.
