ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,407,068, issued on Sept. 2, was assigned to Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Corp. (Tokyo).

"Lithium ion battery using crosslinkable separator" was invented by Xun Zhang (Tokyo), Ryo Kuroki (Tokyo), Yuki Fukunaga (Tokyo), Hiromi Kobayashi (Tokyo) and Mitsuko Saito (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A separator for an electricity storage device comprising a silane-modified polyolefin, wherein silane crosslinking reaction of the silane-modified polyolefin is initiated when it contacts with the electrolyte solution, as well as a method for producing the separator."

The patent was filed on Oct. 17, 2022, under Application No. 17/967,002.
