ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,446,910, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Arthrex Inc. (Naples, Fla.).

"Variable particle size tissue collector" was invented by G. Joshua Karnes (Estereo, Fla.), Shane Noble (Naples, Fla.), Christopher Bare (Naples, Fla.) and Andrea Matuska (Naples, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Devices and methods for collecting tissue fragments of variable sizes from a surgical site are described herein. The devices can include at least two filters having a different pore size for the collection and sorting of tissue fragments by size."

The patent was filed on Dec. 15, 2023, under Application No. 18/477,633.
