ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,544,526, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Arthrex Inc. (Naples, Fla.).

"Anti-microbial heat and moisture exchangers" was invented by Robert M. Harrison IV (North Naples, Fla.) and Christopher Bare (Naples, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A heat and moisture exchanger device comprising a housing containing a microcurrent-generating filter capable of generating a low level microcurrent. A microcurrent-generating filter can reduce the number of living or active microbes."

The patent was filed on March 25, 2021, under Application No. 17/914,568.
