ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,435,452, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to Arizona Board of Regents on behalf of Arizona State University (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

"Enzyme extraction methods" was invented by Edward Kavazanjian (Tempe, Ariz.), Nasser Hamdan (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Hamed Khodadadi Tirkolaei (Tempe, Ariz.) and Neda Javadi (Tempe, Ariz.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are methods of extracting an enzyme, comprising soaking a seed in an aqueous solution, homogenizing the seed to produce a homogenized suspension, and filtering the homogenized suspension to produce a crude extract, wherein the crude extract comprises urease and non-urease proteins."
