ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,438,840, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.).
"User interfaces for message summaries" was invented by Marcel Van Os (Santa Cruz, Calif.), Bryn Bowman (Lafayette, Calif.), Grant R. Paul (San Francisco), Eric L. Wilson (Granite Bay, Calif.) and Marcos A. Weskamp (Palo Alto, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure generally relates to selectively displaying a summary for a message, displaying a summary for related messages, and displaying a message summary affordance."
The patent was filed on Jan. 17, 2025, under Application No. 19/030,720.
