ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,294,849, issued on May 6, was assigned to Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.).
"Audio level metering for listener position and object position" was invented by Matthew S. Connolly (San Jose, Calif.) and Jared King (Hermosa Beach, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Playback of an audio signal is simulated from a playback position to a listening position. The simulation is performed with respect to a model of a listening area. The resulting loudness of the audio, perceived at the listening position, is rendered to a display. Other aspects are described and claimed."
The patent was filed on March 24, 2022, under Application No. 17/703,350.
