ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,315,896, issued on May 27, was assigned to Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.).
"Battery cap with cut-out sections" was invented by Jonathan C. Wilson (San Jose, Calif.) and Charles H. Laird (Los Gatos, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Various embodiments described herein relate to a battery that includes a battery cap with one or more cut-out sections. The battery cap may be used to at least partially cover a circuit board that is proximate an end of a battery cell. In various examples, the cut-out sections may be configured to accommodate one or more cell tabs of the battery that protrude above the circuit board."
