ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,284,475, issued on April 22, was assigned to Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.).

"In-ear headphone" was invented by Glenn K. Trainer (Santa Clara, Calif.), Scott C. Grinker (Belmont, Calif.), Ethan L. Huwe (Davis, Calif.) and Craig M. Stanley (Campbell, Calif.).
