ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,409,272, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Antares Pharma Inc. (Ewing, N.J.).

"Prefilled syringe with breakaway force feature" was invented by James W. Lannan (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) and Julius C. Sund (Plymouth, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A jet injector that includes a prefilled syringe. The syringe includes a fluid chamber that contains a medicament. The syringe also has an injection-assisting needle, and a plunger is movable within the fluid chamber. A housing is configured for allowing insertion of the needle to a penetration depth.
