ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,233,780, issued on Feb. 25, was assigned to AMERICAN ALUMINUM ACCESSORIES LLC (Stevens Point, Wis.).

"Heat index sensing system" was invented by Marisol Swain (Perry, Fla.), Jennifer Nicole Arnold (Perry, Fla.) and Alice E. Poseley (Elkhart, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The subject invention relates to temperature and Heat Index sensing system, and in particular to a system suited for use in a K9 Police Vehicle that both monitors the temperature and heat index and provides an alert if pre-set maximum values are exceeded."
