ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,312,227, issued on May 27, was assigned to AMCOR RIGID PACKAGING USA LLC (Ann Arbor, Mich.).

"Method of inverting container base prior to cooling" was invented by Michael T. Lane (Brooklyn, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method for hot-filling a polymeric container with heated product. The method includes mechanically inverting a base of the polymeric container prior to the heated product cooling in order to create a positive pressure within the container prior to cooling, and a vacuum in the container after cooling."

The patent was filed on Sept. 21, 2017, under Application No. 16/646,728.
