"Secure directory services" was invented by Christopher A. Howell (Freehold, N.J.), Robert Statica (Long Valley, N.J.) and Kara Lynn Coppa (Long Valley, N.J.).

A cryptographic hash of a foreign identifier associated with a potential user is received.
