US Patent Issued to AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES on May 27 for "System for grant-free transmissions" (California, Washington, Texas Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,316,433, issued on May 27, was assigned to AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES INC. (Seattle).

"System for grant-free transmissions" was invented by Pengfei Xia (San Diego), Runhua Chen (Plano, Texas), Arunabha Ghosh (Bellevue, Wash.) and Timothy Leo Gallagher (Woodinville, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A satellite constellation provides communication between user terminals (UTs) and ground stations that connect to other networks. Grant-free transmissions allow the UTs access to the satellite uplink as needed. Each UT is assigned a unique preamble that represents a combination of repetition pattern (from a set of patterns) and precoding vectors (...
