US Patent Issued to Amazon Technologies on July 22 for "Enrichment of surgical specimens for tumor tissue" (Washington Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,366,505, issued on July 22, was assigned to Amazon Technologies Inc. (Reno, Nev.).

"Enrichment of surgical specimens for tumor tissue" was invented by David Heckerman (Bellevue, Wash.), Frank Wilhelm Schmitz (Seattle) and Michael Vogelsong (Seattle).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein is a method for determining tumor margins relative to non-tumorous tissue using a deep-learning platform. Also disclosed herein are methods for removing a tumor from a tumor biopsy."

The patent was filed on Nov. 5, 2021, under Application No. 17/519,655.
