ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,381,850, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Amazon Technologies Inc. (Seattle).

"Virtual private gateway for encrypted communication over dedicated physical link" was invented by Po-Chun Chen (Oak Hill, Va.), Omer Hashmi (Chevy Chase, Md.) and Sanjay Bhal (Germantown, Md.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A request to establish an encrypted VPN connection between a network and the provider network via a dedicated direct physical link and a set of resources of the provider network is received.
