ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,285,400, issued on April 29, was assigned to Alzheon Inc. (Framingham, Mass.).

"Sulfopropanoic acid derivatives for treating neurodegenerative disorders" was invented by Petr Kocis (Framingham, Mass.), John Hey (Framingham, Mass.) and Martin Tolar (Framingham, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided herein is the use of a compound of Formula (I): or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for treating a disease characterized by amyloid and amyloid-like aggregates, e.g., Alzheimer's disease."
