ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. PP37,000, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to Altman Specialty Plants llc (Vista, Calif.).
"Hibiscus plant named 'ALTobiscus'" was invented by Peter Lim (Escondido, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Hibiscus plant named 'ALTobiscus' is disclosed, characterized by multicolored flower with a dark red center radiating into a large bright pink ring and a thick orange margin. Flowers have thick, ruffled petals. Flowers are 16 to 20 centimeters in diameter. The new variety is a Hibiscus, typically produced as an ornamental plant."
