ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. PP36,876, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Altman Specialty Plants llc (Vista, Calif.).

"Hibiscus plant named 'ALTpinky'" was invented by Peter Lim (Escondido, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Hibiscus plant named 'ALTpinky' is disclosed, characterized by pink flowers with a red halo around a darker red center. Plants are dwarf, reaching about 2 feet in a 2-gallon pot. Petals are thick and moderately rugose. The new variety is a Hibiscus, typically produced as an ornamental plant."

The patent was filed on Jan. 15, 2025, under Application No. 19/022,320.
