ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,318,365, issued on June 3, was assigned to ALS Therapy Development Institute (Watertown, Mass.).
"Inhibition of dipeptide repeat proteins" was invented by Fernando G. Vieira (Newton, Mass.), Alan Premasiri (Boston) and Anna Gill (Reading, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods are disclosed for treating neurodegenerative disorders, such as ALS and FTD by using an effective amount of a type I protein arginine methyltransferase (Type I PRMT) inhibitor to decrease cellular toxicity caused by dipeptide repeat proteins (DRPs)."
The patent was filed on Nov. 21, 2023, under Application No. 18/516,358.
