US Patent Issued to ALLWAY TOOLS on May 20 for "Retractable utility knife" (New York Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,304,097, issued on May 20, was assigned to ALLWAY TOOLS INC. (West Babylon, N.Y.).

"Retractable utility knife" was invented by Yuan Fang Cheng (Syosset, N.Y.) and Donald Gringer (New York).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An automatically retractable knife that includes an actuator, a blade carrier, two springs, a pawl and a blade. The knife is configured with a safety feature to ensure that the knife blade is automatically retractable upon completion of cutting a surface."

The patent was filed on Dec. 8, 2021, under Application No. 17/643,397.
