"Lens delivery system" was invented by Terah Whiting Smiley (Davis, Calif.), John A. Scholl (San Ramon, Calif.), David John Smith (Highland, Calif.), Russell J. Redmond (Goleta, Calif.), Derek L. Moran (Goleta, Calif.), Barry Cheskin (Los Altos, Calif.), John Reggie (Santa Rosa, Calif.), Gregory Vinton Matthews (San Francisco) and Claudio Argento (Felton, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Delivery devices for delivering an ophthalmic device into an eye. In some embodiments the delivery devices are adapted to deliver an intraocular lens into an eye."
