ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,336,933, issued on June 24, was assigned to Alcon Inc. (Fribourg, Switzerland).
"Systems and methods for viscoelastic delivery" was invented by Wayne A. Noda (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Omar Harouny (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) and Daniel Hyman (Foothill Ranch, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and device for reducing intraocular pressure in a patient. The method may comprise administering a viscoelastic material in Schlemm's canal to open aqueous humor outflow pathways. The device is adapted to perform the method. The viscoelastic material may be configured to lower the intraocular pressure within the eye."
