ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,268,779, issued on April 8, was assigned to Alcon Inc. (Fribourg, Switzerland).
"Ophthalmic emulsion" was invented by Howard Allen Ketelson (Dallas) and David L. Meadows (Colleyville, Texas).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention is directed to an ophthalmic emulsion. The emulsion has a unique combination of ingredients that promotes the stability of small oil droplets within the emulsion. The emulsion also includes a mucoadhesive polymer that aid in delivering a lipid to the ocular surface."
The patent was filed on May 18, 2023, under Application No. 18/319,794.
