ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,312,605, issued on May 27, was assigned to AJINOMOTO Co. INC. (Tokyo).

"Riboflavin derivative-containing medium" was invented by Kazuya Yoneyama (Kawasaki, Japan), Kotoe Koseki (Kawasaki, Japan), Mizuho Yokoyama (Kawasaki, Japan) and Satoru Okamoto (Kawasaki, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A medium which contains a riboflavin derivative is useful for proliferating and culturing pluripotent stem cells such as iPS cells and ES cells, and is free from degradation due to storage as complete medium."

The patent was filed on Dec. 26, 2019, under Application No. 16/727,449.
