ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,245,592, issued on March 11, was assigned to Aerogel ApS (Copenhagen, Denmark).
"Encapsulated biocides and biorepellents" was invented by Eva Wallstroem (Copenhagen, Denmark).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to silica aerogels with a high to very high loading (60-90% w/w) of encapsulated biocidal and/or biorepellant compounds and to methods of making and using such aerogels in anti-fouling compositions, which are especially suitable for marine use."
The patent was filed on Nov. 12, 2021, under Application No. 17/525,025.
