ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,496,956, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Adrian Steel Co. (Adrian, Mich.).

"Selective retention system" was invented by Joshua Michael Gerez (Tecumseh, Mich.) and Mark Anthoney Henry Jr. (Adrian, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A selective retention system may have at least one side retention rail with an attachment portion and a retention portion. The retention portion may have a plurality of teeth. The system may also have an end retention rail with an attachment portion and a retention portion, where the retention portion at least one aperture."

The patent was filed on Sept. 26, 2022, under Application No. 17/935,194.
