ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,311,234, issued on May 27, was assigned to Acushnet Co. (Fairhaven, Mass.).

"Golf ball having non-planar parting line" was invented by Courtney N. Engle (Fall River, Mass.) and Michael R. Madson (Easton, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention is directed to a golf ball having a non-planar parting line on its spherical surface. The non-planar parting line includes a plurality of arcuate segments, including at least one elliptical arc segment."

The patent was filed on June 12, 2023, under Application No. 18/208,536.
