ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,296,235, issued on May 13, was assigned to Acushnet Co. (Fairhaven, Mass.).

"Modular golf club including an interchangeable sole" was invented by Ronald K. Hettinger (Oceanside, Calif.) and Eddie G. Perez (Carlsbad, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The presently disclosed technology is directed to a modular golf club. In particular, the modular golf club includes at least one interchangeable sole component to allow adjustability of various characteristics of the modular golf club."

The patent was filed on April 28, 2023, under Application No. 18/308,765.
