ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,279,851, issued on April 22, was assigned to ACTIV Surgical Inc. (Boston).
"Laser speckle force feedback estimation" was invented by John Oberlin (Dorchester, Mass.) and Hossein Dehghani Ashkezari (Charlestown, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided herein are systems, methods, and media capable of determining estimated force applied on a target tissue region to enable tactile feedback during interaction with said target tissue region."
The patent was filed on July 6, 2022, under Application No. 17/810,988.
