US Patent Issued to AB Sandvik Coromant on Feb. 10 for "Coated cutting tool" (Swedish Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,544,837, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to AB Sandvik Coromant (Sandviken, Sweden).

"Coated cutting tool" was invented by Lars Johnson (Stockholm) and Marta Saraiva (Stockholm).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A coated cutting tool includes a substrate and a coating, wherein the coating has a (Ti,Al)N multilayer of alternating cubic Ti1-xAlxN sub-layers, 0.60less than equal toxless than equal to0.75, and cubic+hexagonal Ti1-yAlyN sub-layers, 0.60less than equal toyless than equal to0.75.
