ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,313,864, issued on May 27, was assigned to 3M Innovative Properties Co. (St. Paul, Minn.).

"High transmission light control film comprising alternating transmissive and absorptive regions" was invented by Tao Liu (Woodbury, Minn.), Nicholas A. Johnson (Woodbury, Minn.), Raymond J. Kenney (Woodbury, Minn.), Caleb T. Nelson (McKinney, Texas) and Daniel J. Schmidt (Woodbury, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A light control film comprises a light input surface and a light output surface; alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions disposed between the light input surface and the light output surface; and TIR cladding layers. ...
