ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,545,825, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to 3M Innovative Properties Co. (St. Paul, Minn.).
"Shaped abrasive particles with low roundness factor" was invented by Dwight D. Erickson (Woodbury, Minn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Shaped abrasive particles comprising alpha alumina and having a cross-sectional shape along a longitudinal axis of the shaped abrasive particles, the cross-sectional shape comprising a non-circular cross-sectional plane, and the shaped abrasive particles comprise an Average Roundness Factor of between about 15% to 0%."
The patent was filed on Nov. 21, 2018, under Application No. 16/198,250.
