According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system and method for an adaptable handguard. The system includes a receiver adapter configured to couple with a firearm via an adapter nut. The receiver adapter has a tapered inner wall and the adapter nut has a tapered outer wall.
