"Tilt brake mechanism for hand truck" was invented by Gene O'Brien (Chaska, Minn.), Robert V. Albertson (Chaska, Minn.) and Michael Holden (Chaska, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A braking mechanism for a hand truck or dolly that, when installed on the hand truck, slows the movement of the hand truck when the hand truck is tilted rearwardly. The more the hand truck is tilted rearwardly, the greater the braking force applied by the braking mechanism against the wheels."

The patent was filed on Sept. 17, 2021, under Application No. 17/478,228.
