"Collapsible pet bed" was invented by John Chitkowski (Glen Ellen, Ill.) and Kerry Chitkowski (Glen Ellen, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A collapsible pet bed includes a clamshell container, a double hinge, legs, and stairs. The clamshell container includes a first tray and a second tray. The double hinge is designed to permit relative movement of the first tray and the second tray to: an open position in which the bottom wall of the first tray abuts the bottom wall of the second tray, and a closed position in which the side walls of the first tray abut the side walls of the second tray.
