According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pipe coupler for coupling pipes of different kinds with a one or more crown partially flexible heads, integrated into the ends of the pipe coupler for accommodating grip rings and seals for coupling pipes of different kinds.
