ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,433,898, issued on Oct. 7.

"Use of GABA a receptor modulators for treatment of itch" was invented by Hanns Ulrich Zeilhofer (Zurich) and William Ralvenius (Somerville, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A compound for use in the treatment of itch is provided, wherein the compound comprises the general formula (1a), general formula (1b) or general formula (1c). The compounds of the invention are positive allosteric Alpha2 and/or Alpha3 GABAA receptor modulators."

The patent was filed on Sept. 1, 2022, under Application No. 17/901,356.
