ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,435,880, issued on Oct. 7.
"Safe cooking system" was invented by Shaheen Akinitsisahn Hedgepeth (Rocky Mount, N.C.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides a safe cooking system. The safe cooking system includes a cooktop with a burner eye with controllers to regulate the intensity of the heat and the length of time the burner eye is turned on, and a cooling eye. Burn guards surround the burner eye and the cooling eye to protect a cook from burns when hot pans are on either eye. Pans are designed to allow for adding ingredients and stirring the contents of a pan without having to remove the lid."
