According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "First and second handles 18 and 20 extend from first and second plier parts 24 and 26 with a tool shaft 14 disposed on the handle 20 and extending outward of a pivot at 34 and stows into the outer side of the handle 20. The base 42 of the tool shaft 14 has a mating profile 80 which engages a complimentary mating profile 48 disposed on the pivot at 32 or at a complimentary mating profile 48 in an accessory tool 50.
