ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,433,613, issued on Oct. 7.
"Minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion" was invented by Jan William Duncan (Los Angeles).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This disclosure presents a MITLIF procedure. The procedure uses a single incision on one side and pedicle screws are placed on that side and through the same incision a facet screw is placed on the opposite side using a series of jigs, and, for example, the hole cutter, drill, guide shaft and screw driver described herein."
The patent was filed on Feb. 8, 2024, under Application No. 18/436,794.
