"Fishing lure" was invented by Casey Vorwaller (Francis, Utah).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A fishing lure may include a body and a removable lip, which may be removed manually without the use of tools by pressing on portions of the body to release a catch between the removable lip and the body."
