"Hydrangea plant named 'GRHYAR2008'" was invented by Guido Rouwette (Valkenburg, Netherlands).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new cultivar of Hydrangea arborescens plant named 'GRHYAR2008' that is characterized by its inflorescences with flowers that are deep purple in color that change to red-purple in color and finally light purple-pink in color, its medium sized and compact plant habit, its large flower panicles, and its sturdy stems."

The patent was filed on Jan. 24, 2025, under Application No. 19/036,991.
