"Flexible baud rate" was invented by Jonas Geyer (Somerville, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method, system, and apparatus enabled to selectively choose a baud rate for communication of optical data using a modem enabled to operate with an optical signal modulated at plurality of finely tuned baud rates."
The patent was filed on March 31, 2023, under Application No. 18/129,588.
