According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Epipremnum aureum plant named 'Sao Paulo' is disclosed, characterized by a uniquely rugose leaf texture and interesting color pattern. The upper leaf surface has distinct wrinkling/rugosity, along with darker translucent ripple patterns. The under surface of the foliage has rippled markings.
