According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present inventive subject matter is a bone fixation device where the distal end of the bone fixation device is affixed to the digit of a hand the proximal end of the bone fixation device is connected to the a bone in the arm. There is a middle section between the proximal section and the distal section."
