"Medical devices for use in the creation of a temporary pneumoperitoneum" was invented by Oscar Jimenez (Key Largo, Fla.) and Thomas A. Gordy (Newnan, Ga.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Medical devices include a rigid dome, a viewing window, a vacuum port, a vacuum pressure regulator, an aperture, and a septum.
